Minister of Health chairs meeting of Ministerial Committee for Localization of Local Pharmaceutical Industries
The Ministerial Committee for Localizing Local Pharmaceutical Industries held a meeting in the interim capital, Aden, headed by the Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qasim Buhaibeh.
In the meeting, which included the Minister of Industry and Trade, Dr. Mohammed Al-Ashwal, the Chairman of the General Investment Authority, the Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Finance, Legal Affairs, Water and Environment, the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and other relevant authorities, the Ministerial Committee listened to the results of the meetings of the Technical Committee and the recommendations submitted by it on a number of topics, including simplifying customs and tax exemption procedures, establishing a single window system to facilitate procedures, extending the exemption period to ten years, and implementing the Investment Law of 2010 with the necessary amendments.
The Committee discussed the importance of localizing pharmaceutical industries, their specificities, their relationship to investment, enhancing competitiveness, and ways to reduce production costs. It also reviewed the status of current factories and projects under construction and the challenges associated with them.
The committee discussed the issue of broadcasting the extension of the exemption period, the final list of materials, and the implementation of the investment law and the one stop shop system.
The committee reviewed in detail the strategy and executive plan to encourage the localization of local pharmaceutical industries, and stressed the need to fulfill the aspects, enrich them, and produce them in the required form, while emphasizing the continuation of the work of the ministerial and technical committees to complete the remaining tasks and submit them to the Council of Ministers for approval.
The Minister of Public Health and Population, the Minister of Industry and Trade, and the Chairman of the General Investment Authority, Mr. Ali Garhuom, called on all local and regional investors to invest in all sectors, including the pharmaceutical and food industries, indicating that they will receive all the necessary support from the government side, noting that opportunities are available for investment in the country and that all the conditions that encourage this are available.
