The Environment Center at Aden University organizes a training course to raise awareness of the dangers of climate change
Mr. Ali Ahmed Jarhum, Chairman of the General Investment Authority, attended the opening of the first training course held by the Center for Environmental Studies and Sciences at Aden University, which was held under the patronage of Professor Dr. Al-Khader Nasser Lasour, President of the University, and Professor Saleh Salim Bin Nahid, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, and in cooperation with the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, the training course on “Climate Change and Its Impact on the World and Yemen” under the slogan “Together to Educate Journalists about the Dangers of Climate Change”, which will continue for three consecutive days.
During the opening, Professor Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Aqlan, Acting President of Aden University – Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, stressed the importance of these courses and scientific workshops that target journalists and support awareness of Yemeni society about the harms of climate change and its effects and how to deal with these variables without compromising development progress.
In his speech, Dr. Fawaz Bahmish, Director of the Center for Environmental Studies and Sciences at Aden University, pointed out the importance of the course, which came to raise awareness among journalists when writing articles and press reports and confronting these changes, as it discussed many international topics and experiences and how journalists can benefit from them to raise awareness among Yemeni society about the dangers of climate change in their writings and press reports and its impact on the areas located near them, stressing that the center will organize other courses in this regard to complement this activity and raise awareness about it.
The opening was held on November 25, 2024 in the building of Aden University, in the presence of Professor Muhammad Hassan Salem, Secretary-General of the University, Dr. Mustafa Ahmed Saleh, Director-General of the Office of the President of the University, Professor Nasser Al-Batr, Assistant Secretary-General for Colleges and Scientific Centers Affairs, and a number of interested people in Aden.
