The Industrial Development Council discusses the reality of the industrial sector and the damages of the 2015 war
The Chairman of the General Authority for Investment participated in the meeting of the Industrial Development Council in the interim capital, Aden, headed by the Minister of Industry and Trade, Chairman of the Council, Muhammad Al-Ashwal, during which the reality of the industrial sector and the damages it was exposed to as a result of the 2015 war were discussed.
The meeting, which included members of the Council including representatives of customs, taxes, investment, environment, standards, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, touched on a survey of industrial zones and their impact on enhancing partnership between the public and private sectors, and as an attractive area for investment and industrial development. Al-Ashwal stressed the importance of the meeting in reassuring the commercial sector, as well as encouraging the state to develop local industries in the country, especially since the meeting’s agenda includes the “voluntary return” of factories that left the country, and to start calling for the implementation of the industrial survey and to find out the extent of damage to factories as a result of the war 2015, and the entry into the reconstruction program. The members of the Industrial Development Board also reviewed the goals and tasks of the council, stressing the treatment of damages that have befallen national industries, evaluating them, and proposing remedies to ensure their renaissance and ways to protect them. The meeting was held on June 1, 2023 in the office of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
