Meeting of the Technical Committee for Localizing the Local Pharmaceutical Industry

The General Investment Authority participated in the meeting of the Technical Committee for Localizing the Local Pharmaceutical Industry, which included a number of specialists from the Ministries of Industry and Trade, Legal and Financial Affairs, and a number of relevant authorities.

At the opening of the meeting, Dr. Abdul Qader Ahmed Al-Bakri, Executive Director General of the Supreme Authority for Medicines and Medical Supplies, stressed the importance of concerted efforts of joint work and thoughtful strategic planning to ensure a secure and sustainable future for local pharmaceutical industries, pointing out the Authority’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing the localization of local pharmaceutical industries as a step towards achieving self-sufficiency and ensuring the provision of high-quality medicines at reasonable prices for citizens, pointing out the need to face the major challenges related to technology transfer, developing local capabilities, and achieving international quality standards.

Al-Bakri explained that the meeting is an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences and determine policies and procedures that contribute to achieving the localization goals of pharmaceutical industries, taking into account market needs and developing the necessary technology and legislation to support this industry.

The meeting was held on December 5, 2024, at the Supreme Authority for Medicines and Medical Supplies building – Aden.
