Workshop on the possibility of involving the private sector in seawater desalination projects using renewable energy

In coordination between the Ministry of Water and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), a workshop was held to discuss the possibility of involving the private sector in seawater desalination projects using renewable energy in the interim capital, Aden, in order to address the threats facing the governorate’s residents regarding water supplies as a result of population expansion and climate change that threaten the fields that finance the governorate and are no longer sufficient to accommodate the expansions and demand for water. Desalination is a strategic investment project.

The main objective is to come up with a roadmap for participation between the public and private sectors in this major investment project and to discuss possible opportunities and challenges.

The workshop was held on October 3, 2024 in Coral Hotel Hall, with the participation of a number of employees of the General Investment Authority.
